Plus: + Even though there is no Super Free the Caenan casts well + Recessed reel foot makes the reel easier to palm + Low overall weight + Corrosion resistant and rated for saltwater + Reasonable price Minus: - Cranking power when there is pressure on the line - Could be more refined, not the same fluid feel of many Shimano reels, past and present - Noticeable play in the handle Conclusion We are used to seeing some really good product from Shimano and while the Caenan leverages a lot of what makes Shimano baitcasters so good including VBS cast control, a low-mass spool that starts up quickly, a quality clutch design, but when it comes to sheer winding power the Caenan falls short when there is pressure on the line
in contrast to the cartridge system
